Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine

Recording Date:
Wednesday, May 3, 2006

I first learned this from an LP by the Deseret String Band, on OkeeDoKee records, where I believe it was given the title Bonaparte Crossing the Rockies. I forget where I learned to use the 5th string in the melody--probably from a book, although I have a vague memory of someone actually teaching it to me. I had completely forgotten about this tune until a day ago when I came across it on the Banjo Newsletter site , and I had been humming it to myself until I could get my hands on the banjo. It's just one of the best tunes in the world.
