It seems as though there are many tunes that go by this name. This one is based on a version played on an LP by Pop Wagner and Bob Bovee, available as a CD. You can hear a bit of it at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/popwagner4, it is track 11. It's been a while since I tried, but as I remember what I play meshes just fine with what they play.

This is a self-indulgent thing in which I multi-tracked myself on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. I hope that my version of the B section is correct, I worked it out from a recording downloaded from the Pegram Jam site, and it seemed to me that the fiddlers were doing a couple of different things.

I learned this from a John Roberts, Tony Barrand LP. Usually I play this forever, and do some variations. Then when I stop I start over again.
Replaced version from 2006-04-13.

I learned this from Dan Gellerts CD Waiting on the Break of Day, but he plays it in the minstrel low-base tuning. I couldn't get it to sound like I wanted on the tackhead, so I'm on the bicentenial, at modern pitch.
