Virginia Reel
Last night I was fooling around on the mandolin, and also fooling around with my tablet. I had my banjo recording of the Virginia Reel, and gave it a try on mandolin. It has some stumbles but I like the flow between the stumbles. I recorded it on the tablet, which I find to be inadequate. It randomly adds little bursts of loud static. It's a cheapo ASUS 7-inch, and is otherwise quite nice.
Shoo Fly
I learned this from Lyle, and then again from an Alan Jabbour workshop at Breaking Up Winter.
Country Waltz
I learned this last year (2014) at Charlie Walden's workshop before the Illinois State Fiddler competition. Just recently I found that 4 of my fiddler friends also play it, so I can do duets a couple of times each month! Cool!
Step Up Susie
For what it's worth, there is a fiddle version, and also a banjo video where I play it slow-ish and faster.
